About

Thank you for dropping by! I’m Sherman, and I’ve been working in the world of corporate finance, automotive and technology over the past decade, spreading my time across two investment banks and two start-ups.

I studied Business Administration in California and am now based in Hong Kong. If you’re interested, you can read more about my personal journey here.

Besides tech, cars and investing, I am interested in exploring the idea of “mobility” – a category-agnostic term to describe the imaginative possibility of upward motion – in the areas of employment and entrepreneurship. The topic is especially exciting now because “mobility” is being revolutionized by the digital economy at an exponential pace.

After spending seven years in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have been fascinated by how progressive education, technological innovation and creativity can contribute towards improving our lives.

As I returned to Asia to begin my career, however, I realized that a lot of talented people on this side of the world take a more reserved approach.

In Asia, the cookie-cutter approach is manifested in a more extreme manner than in North America and Europe. Most Asian kids are programmed to follow the traditional path, aiming to attain a college degree from an accredited university and land a high-paying job at the most well-known corporation.

While there are clear merits to climbing the academic and corporate ladder in the conventional way, I don’t think it necessarily helps us get out of the “rat race”, nor does it bring the most joy and satisfaction. Adhering to the textbook mechanically may gradually “immobilize” your career.

This is because technology has massively changed the rules of the game.

With a plethora of new and emerging industries born out of constant tech disruptions (social media, e-commerce, sharing economy, artificial intelligence, 5G, renewable energy, autonomous driving, blockchain… just to name a few), we must be prepared and equipped to grow alongside the uptrend of these verticals, embrace new ways of learning and doing things.

Through my personal sharing and quest for “mobility” in the new age of digital transformation, I hope to encourage you to think and act outside of the box by taking intelligent risks and making timely, strategic decisions for your companies and career endeavors.

I’d be thrilled if this platform could provide some value to you towards engineering your dreams, achieving career breakthroughs, crystallizing your long-term financial security, or simply provoking your thoughts meaningfully.

On that note, it’s time to mobilize.
